What attire for horse presentation: English or Western?
Me and my friend are doing a horse presentation for a state competition about Equine First Aid. We’ve got everything figured out except what to wear. We have to wear English attire (White shirt, hunt coat, breeches, and boots) or Western attire (Vest and shirt outfit, jeans, belt, boots, and hat). I don’t really care which one, but I have all the stuff for English attire, and only have a belt and hat for Western. My friend has both, but no english breeches, and I have half of a western outfit, only a shirt and vest, but the vest is too small and i have no jeans or boots.
Sooooo….. what should we wear for our Equine First Aid presentation: English attire or Western attire??
btw we can’t have one person do one attire and the other do another attire: we have to both be western or both be english attire.
I would go with English simply because whoever decided that you needed to wear a vest and shirt for western has obviously not seen any current western style/show trends. Wearing a vest would make you look outdated–not the look you want to have while giving a presentation and trying to appear knowledgeable. Sounds like you’re closer to having an English outfit, anyway–all you lack is a pair of breeches for your friend. You can get a cheap pair for $20-30 in most catalogs or I’m sure she can borrow some from somebody for just one competition–especially since she’s not riding in them and therefore won’t be getting them dirty or ruining them.
